PTC Heater Cores for Car Air Conditioning System
During cold weather, the car air conditioning system’s primary role is heating.
Today, all vehicles are fitted with heating systems, but sometimes it isn’t enough.
An additional electric heating device called a PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) can be fitted to the heater core to temporarily supplement it with additional heat.
PTCs are self-regulating electric heaters used in addition to the heater core and are usually placed after the heater core or sometimes in ducts for footwell heating.
PTC heater cores have been added to climate control systems to compensate for insufficient heating on high-efficiency engines.
