There are a number of reasons for wipers to leave streaks across the windscreen during operation. The buildup of dirt, traffic film and other particles on the windscreen in addition to heavy frost, ice or snow build up around the blade will contribute to causing damage to the rubber element during operation.
The wipers will need to be replaced to rectify the issue. However to prevent subsequent damage to the new blades the following action should be undertaken:
- Ensure the correct mounting connector is used when installing the new wiper, taking care to avoid damage
- Thoroughly clean the windscreen with a high quality glass cleaner to remove the buildup of grease, dirt and traffic film
- Pay particular attention to the area where the wipers sit in the parked position and clean away any debris buildup. Failure to ensure this area is thoroughly clean will result in damage being caused to the new blades at first operation. Irreparable damage to the windscreen surface may also occur
- Check the windscreen for tar deposits and remove using a specific product if required
- Ensure the washer fluid reservoir is kept topped up with a high quality screen wash
- Check the condition of the wiper arm and replace if distorted or exhibits a weak / broken spring
There are a number of reasons for wipers to leave water haze across the windscreen during operation. The exposure to wide variations in temperatures whilst the wipers are parked without being used for long periods of time results in deformation of the wiper rubber. The age of the wiper is also a factor.
The wipers will need to be replaced to rectify the issue. However to prevent subsequent damage to the new blades the following action should be undertaken:
- Ensure the correct mounting connector is used when installing the new wiper, taking care to avoid damage

There are a number of reasons for wipers to judder across the windscreen and create noise during operation. The deformation of the rubber due to age can cause noise during operation. Additionally, a poorly fitted, loose / broken or incorrect type of mounting connector will result in the wiper juddering across the screen.
The wipers will need to be replaced to rectify the issue. However to prevent subsequent damage to the new blades the following action should be undertaken:
- Ensure the correct mounting connector is used when installing the new wiper, taking care to avoid damage

There are a number of reasons for wipers to leave an area unwiped during operation. A wiper blade rubber with a split or tear, a distorted wiper arm, or a wiper arm with a weak / broken spring causing tension loss will result in the rubber losing contact with the screen.
