The Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) is the UK professional body for Quality Professional providing training and accreditation to its member. Dave Treadwell, VSUK Quality Manager is on the board of the local branch of this organisation. It improves the performance of organisations by developing their capability in quality management. As a registered charity, the CQI exists to advance education in knowledge of and the practice of quality in the industry, the public sector and the voluntary sectors. The CQI also owns the International Register of Certificated Auditors, the world's first and largest international certification body for auditors of management systems.
VSUK supported Birmingham Chartered Quality Institute Branch with a tour of the site, and a demonstration of Valeo Quality methodology. This was a good opportunity for members to observe how Valeo embrace, and apply Quality techniques to their daily activities.
The tour/presentation included an overview of VSUK warehouse, and the Quality tools applied such as Quick Response Quality Control (QRQC), Plan Do Check Act (PDCA), Factor Tree Analysis (FTA) etc. The talk on QRQC implementation was particularly interesting, which is part of Lean, measuring and documenting processes before and after a change, as well as on a long-term basis.
QRQC has allowed the Valeo Group to support it’s quality measurement, and continually drive to maintain customer satisfaction as part of their DNA.
The Chartered Quality Institute Birmingham branch holds regular meetings where members can discuss common interests in the quality profession in an informal setting, as well as talks on a variety of quality-related topics, and visits to local businesses.
